For most use cases we strongly recommend videos instead of GIFs. GIFs have very rudimentary compression, so they tend to be massive files (often 10X larger), much lower quality, and often lower frame rate.
However, there are a few valid cases–such as small looping thumbnails on sites like Product Hunt, where you can't upload a video.
If you have a use case for GIFs where you can't use videos, let us know here so we can understand!
In the meantime if you need GIFs, you can use a third party GIF converter after exporting from Kite. The free Mac app Gifski is particularly good (no affiliation, just a nice app we use ourselves).
